There are classic, hallowed prayers that every Catholic should know. Many Catholics learned these as children and use them daily today. They are holy, time-tested, and have been prayed by billions of Christians throughout history, and are now available online for free. We provide these prayers in English as well as Latin, since Latin is the official language of the Western Church and many people learned them originally in Latin. The Sign of the Cross (Signum Crucis).
Here is a collection of traditional, pre-conciliar, Catholic prayers composed by love-struck Saints and Church authorities that have been recited for decades, if not centuries. Many are specifically orientated for the end of the day and others are included for their pious value and consoling nature. This particular itinerary or schedule has no specific approbation, and is merely offered for your consideration.
Roman Catholic prayers are differentiated from other Christian prayers by the presence of the Trinity, the Father, Son and Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit.
Traditional Catholic prayers include the Lord's Prayer, Hail Mary, Rosary Prayer, st Michael Prayer, Memorare Prayer, Night Prayer Catholic and other. The Chaplet of Mercy is recited using ordinary Rosary beads of five decades. The Chaplet is preceded by two opening prayers from the Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska and followed by a closing prayer.
A novena is typically nine days of prayer in preparation of a celebration of a feast day. At the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Novena is recited perpetually at the Hour of Great Mercy — the three o'clock hour.
